Description : Discovery of the old colonial harbour of Fort Dauphin, enjoying his special fauna and flora, Lokaro, Nahampoana and Berenty spots. This trip can be arranged from Tana or from Tulear.

Description : Discover the former colonial harbour of Fort Dauphin. The excursion in the bay of Lokaro, the private reserve of Berenty and the reserve of Nahampoana will give you the opportunities for spotting some endemic flora of fauna. This trip can be organised from Antananarivo by taking the domestic flight from Antananarivo to Fort Dauphin and could be combine with a south trip to getting Tuléar by road (during dry season) or by an other domestic flight to Tuléar.

Detailed Description :

Day 1 : Tana – Fort Dauphin
Arrival in Fort Dauphin , meet at the airport and transfer the hotel Lavasoa Guest House (stay 3 nights) passing by the city center of Fort Dauphin, nearby the famous beach of Libanona.

Day 2 : Fort Dauphin / Lokaro Bay
A day excursion to the magnificiant Lokaro Bay : a little cruise on the salted lake of Lanirano till the village of Evatra, a little trek to the bay passing by the fisherman village. Possibility of swimming . Pic nic lunch during the excursion. At the end of he afternoon back to Fort Dauphin.

Day 3 : Fort Dauphin / Nahampoana Reserve
Morning visit of the private reserve of Nahampoana. The natural swimming pool, the little water fall, cave and a very relax full ballad by pirogue on the mangroves. Many species of lemurs can be spotted as well. Back to the Guest house and afternoon free at leisure.

Day 4 : Fort Dauphin / Berenty Reserve
Drive to Berenty in the morning enjoy stops en route short visit of Antandroy villages in the spiny desert. Arrival and installation at Berenty Lodge. The Berenty reserve is one of the most famous Malagasy reserve with it’s large populations of lemurs such as the ringtailed lemurs, Verreaux’ sifaka and as well the botanical garden. Before diner nocturnal visit for spotting the nocturnal species.

Day 5 : Berenty Reserve / Fort Dauphin
A new visit of the reserve and visit the museum of the Antandroy ethnic group, people of the dry climate... back to Fort Dauphin. Installation for 2 nights at the Guest House Lavasoa.

Day 6 : Fort Dauphin
Day free. Relax at Libanona beach.

Day 7 : Fort Dauphin – Correspondance
Airport transfer. End of services.
