West Unusual : A tour of the Menabe region: a boat cruise on the Tsiribihina River, the discovery of unique flora and fauna in isolated sites; one world-famous site: the Tsingy of Bemaraha.
Tsiribihina River Descent : It stretches over 120 kms and is spread over 3 days with 2 nights in the bivouac. This river cruise can discover fauna and flora very rich. The distance of the descent is about 120 kms.
Tsingy of Bemaraha : Massif unique in the world, scored a world heritage site, this site is a logical continuity at the end of the descent of the Tsiribihina. The more courageous can climb the Great Tsingy, and admire the spectacular scenery. On the way from Bekopaka to Morondava its is possible to add one day with overnight at Kirindy Reserve.
Period : Considering different parameters (water level, rainy season, state trails,), River Descent is possible of the from start April to middle November. About Bemaraha Park : from May to Middle of November (Small Tsingy), Great Tsingy from Half June to End October.
Occupancy / Health : On the river, accommodation is organized in camp on large sandbanks: Are available: tents with mosquito nets, mattresses 8 cm thick, sheets, blankets, pillows. The bivouac installed by the crew of the boat. In Bekopaka, the starting point of the Tsingy du Bemaraha, a private 2-century hotel. At Miandrivazo and Morondava comfort hotels.
Encadrement : English-speaking driver for itinerant parties; Menabe guide for the descent of the river.
Description of barge : Boats measure from 10 to 15 metres. Back is located kitchen, Steering Post. Part, you have banches, tables where you take meals. Upstairs you access to the roof with deck chairs.
Transport Tsingy : 4WD vehicle ( could be Patrol or Toyota ).
Meals : Food during is kept in coolers. Alimentation is bought the day before departure

- Meals : but salad and tuna, duck, raw vegetables, tenderloin, entrecôte, fish, rice, pasta, peas, pea cap, cheese, fruit.

Fauna and Flora : We can Tsiribihina, by its variety, to a meeting of several Madagascar Natural Sites : dry and dense forests, cliffs, gorges, large sandbars, baobabs, natural pools, waterfall. Fauna is represented by : water turtles, lemurs, crocodiles ( kind ) , chameleons, sarcelles, herons, guinea fowl, humpback ducks, guinea fowl, martin fishermen.
- Day 1Tana – Antsirabe
Departure around 8 am for Antsirabe, you will stop along the way at Behenjy and Ambatolampy ; Road will reveal a nice with laterite lands, churches, Imerina villages, churches, and some lively markets. Arrival in Antsirabe, installation at Chambre du Voyageur. Then direction to Tritriva Lake located fifteen kilometers west of Antsirabe. This large crater lake evokes Madagascar map Madagascar. (Step 4 to 5 hours , 170 kilometers )
- Day 2Antsirabe – Miandrivazo
Direction Betafo village; Rural walk : You will start by visiting a traditional popcorn maker; then, meet the blacksmiths : they design tools like : spade, knife, ax … ; meet also workers specialized in bricks. The balade continues the rhythm of the campaign , outside the beaten track. The travelers are welcome by families sharing their way of life. Climb until at the top of a hill named ‘Ambatomalaza’, picnic there with a panoramic view of the valley. You will descend to Betafo and join your vehicle. Head to Miandrivazo, Installation at Princesse Tsiribihina. ( your guide for Tsiribihina River descent will comme around 7 pm for a briefing). (6 hours – 220 kilometers stage)
- Day 3Miandrivazo – Pier – Descent of the Tsiribihina
Departure at 9 am from Princesse Tsiribhina. Transfer Masiakampy village (count 1 hour and a half ). Crew welcomes you on the barge ( Barge used is like a are motor barges used before for tobacco transportation ). Boat is comfortabely arranged : back are located cockpit and kitchen. On the lower deck , there are benches for passengers, where meals are served. A small staircase leads to the Solarium ( deckchairs at disposition ).
The cruise will start around 10:30 am, you will cross cultivated plains, will sail along gorges of Tsiribihina ; Villagers you will meet are part of “Sakalava” ethnic group; By the late afternoon, refreshing stop by swimming in Anosinampela Waterfall, a small site of paradise where some lemurs families live. Camp will be set up in front of the waterfall. - Day 4Descent of the Tsiribihina
The boat continues its navigation. Meet piroguiers, other barges used products freight. First stop Begidro village Begidro well known for its tobacco concessions. After landscapes follow one another: the giant capoquin, cliff bats (Kina Kina), rice fields; Second stop Berevo village , with school, dispensary and gendarmerie. Third stop for 30 minutes at Ambatomisay village for your first Baobabs ”Andasonia Za”. Sepnd Camp on a Sanb Bank. After dinner, you could participate, around a campfire, to traditional Sakalava dances.
- Day 5Descent of the Tsiribihina – Belo Tsiribhina – Bekopaka
Last cruise day Arrival before twelve at Bereketa pier part of Belo sur Tsiribihina; lunch on board. You join your 4WD. Drive will take at less 4 hours track to reach village of Bekopaka (120 kilometers stage, track – Four to Five hours). Installation at Orchidées du Bemaraha.
Day 6
The Tsingy of BemarahaMorning aournd 7 am, excursion on traditional pirogue along Manambolo river; Specificities are Vazimba Tombs ( Vazimba were the first ethny leaving in Madagascar) , and birds. Then departure with your 4WD to join reach the starting point of ”Grands Tsingy” ( bumpy road of 17 kms of which can take up to two hours ). Circuit is called ”Andamozavakay”, 4 hours duration. It does not rquire a particular physical condition, but it is not advised for those subject to claustrophobia or vertigo. During the hike, you will discover: secondary forest, caves , panoramic views of those unique rocks. You will cross a suspension bridge. Site is safe and well laid out; guides provide harnesses. Back to your hotel after the visit.
- Day 7Bekopaka – Morondava
7:00 am, departure; you take the same track to join Belo Tsiribihina. We recommend lunch at ”Mad Zebu restaurant ” a very good one. After lunch, you will get a ferry and cross the Tsiribihina River ( more than 1 hour crossing time). It will three hours to reach the town of Morondava. On the way, 2 stops first at the Sacred Baobab, and second one at the baobabs alley for the sunset. Arrival at your hotel early in the evening. (Step of 220 kms – 8-9 hours of track). Night at Sun Beach hotel . Option, consult us : Before arriving Morondava, overnight can be added in Kirindy Reserve.
- Day 8Morondava – Tana
Transfer Airport managed by your hotel for correspondance to Antananarivo. End of the Menabe Tour.
