Description : Private tour in vehicle 4×4 framed by a driver’s guide. A part itinerant discovery followed by a seaside extension. A journey in complete privacy. Highlands landscapes will be crossed around the Betsileo and Imerina country; Visit the main reserves of Madagascar such as Ranomafana, Andringitra and Isalo. The route will end either on the north coast of the island at Nosy Be or on the east coast at Sainte Marie.
Period : Except for February, other periods are possible.
Access : For everyone. Walks in the reserves are flexible and it does not require special physical condition.
Accomodation : 3*** and standard + ; All the chosen hotels are clean, safe and have private washroom. Their friendly atmosphere and the high quality of their restaurant is very important.
Cars / Transport : All transfers and assistance airport are included. Trip with a 4WD and an experimented English speaking driver.
Availability : We provide individual trips ( we adapt the program according your dates ). The trip could last less or more days than scheduled depending on your wishes.
Flights : Domestic flights are not included (we are able to book them). We advise you to book your international flight from your departure country.
- Day 1Antananarivo
Meet your driver at the international airport and transfer to the hotel Royal Palissandre, located in the city center.
- Day 2Antananarivo – Antsirabe
Your driver picks you up at Palissandre hotel, you can start the trip by visiting the uptown. Then you go head to the ”thermal town” of Antsirabe, down the road we stop at Behenjy and Ambatolampy known for its artisanal confection of aluminum objects. Then landscape will reveal rich latérite land, churches, lively markets, and local villages. Arrived at Antsirabe, installation at Couleur Café guest house. According timing, you can gp until Tririva lake located 15 kilometers on the west. It is a mysterious crater lake; its shape evokes Madagascar map, and has a legend: two lovers that parents refused marriage, ended their day by drowning together. Back to the guist house . (Step 170 kms, Four to Five hours).
- Day 3Antsirabe – Ranomafana
Departure 22 kilometers south Antsirabe, early morning. Around Manandona village Rural Walk through middle mountain landscapes. Manandona enjoys an ideal climate for any culture. Walk from village to village, full immersion in the rural local life ( participate to rural ). Visit traditional Merina houses, ; silk production with traditional tools. Picnic and reach your vehicle. Continuation of the RN 7. You will cross green rice. Halt in Ambositra; there, a is dedicated to wood carvers shops. The restaurant of Artisan Hotel offers tha the national Malagasy dish called ”Romazava”, with brèdes and Zebu meat. The rest of the day, crossing Betsileo country , will take you to Ranomafana National Park. Installation at hotel Centrest. (260 kms stage, Eight to Nine hours).
- Day 4Ranomafana – Fianarantsoa
In 2007, Ranomafana has been ranked Heritage as Atsinanana. This park covers 41,601 ha of primary forest. It shelters rare lemur species and an endemic biodiversity; guides visit from two to four hours. Continuation for Sahambavy ( located just before Fianarantsoa ) in the afternoon. Installation at Lac Hotel (Step Sixty kms – Two hours ).
- Day 5Fianarantsoa – Vallée du Tsaranoro ( Andringitra )
Visit Sahambavy tea plantation, then go head to Fianarantsoa, ride on the upper town; you will cross vineyards up to Ambalavao. In case step will be Wednesday or Thursday, you will have chance to assist to the largest Zebu marketswith thousands of heads. Special animation reigns during this market. Ambalavao is also known for its beautiful silk weaving and a Antaimoro factory Paper. At village exit, you leave national road to join Tsaranoro Valley bordering the Andringitra massif . Installation in Camp Catta for 2 nights near huge cliffs. (Step 130 kms, from Four to Five hours )
Day 6
Valllé du Tsaranoro – Massif de l’AndringitraTrek in Tsaranoro Valley . A guided walk of six hours including Tsaranoro Sacred Forest, Lemur Catta, summit ” the chameleon” and Morarano village.
- Day 7Camp Catta – Ranohira
The road is a track before finding the N7 : landscape will becomes more desertic. Crossing Horombe Plateau, uou enyer in Bara’s country, ethnic group known for zebu breeding . Arrival in the end of the afternoon at Isalo National Park, exceptional reserve which presents impressive canyons, rock formations carved by erosion, majestic landscapes. Check-in Satrana Lodge. (Step 210 kms, 6 hours ).
- Day 8Isalo
Isalo National Park, extends more than 80 000 hectares. Heavily eroded, canyons and parceled witnessed by sandy valleys remained. Many circuits avalables that local guides will suggest like :
– Canyon des Rats and Makis, Nymphs Waterfall, and natural pool - Day 9Ranohira – Tuléar
Departure for Tulear. Crossing Ilakaka the sapphire’s city. First baobabs will appear durning passing by Mahafaly country’s, ( where there ares the famous tombs of same name, topped by carved posts we call ”Aloalo”. Stop for Arboretum of Antsokay visit, ( This site is located before Tulear entrance and it regroups Madagascar endemic medicinal plants and typical south flora . Installation at hotel ”Moringa”. City tour in the afternoon, you can visit the shells market or a show room Mohair carpet (Step 215 kms – Five hours )
. - Day 10Tuléar – Tana
Transfer to Tuléar Airport ( provided by the hotel ) for connecting flight to Tana. Overnight at hotel Bois Vert closed Airport.
- START Option 1: NOSY BE Day 11Tana – Nosy Be
Transfer to the Airport and connexion flight to Nosy Be. Transfer at Ravintsara Wellness Hotel base Bungalow Sea View.
- Day 12 to day 15Nosy Be
Half-board at the Hotel. Water sports (scuba-diving, snorkelling, fishing) and boat excursions around the islands (Nosy Komba, Tanikely, Sakatia, Lokobe Reserve …) can be arranged with the hotel.

Transfer to the Airport . Flight back to Antananarivo. End of our services
