Diver will pick up at your hotel in the morning and drives you at the “Haute Ville”. Then, departure for Antsirabe, some stops along the way ( like Behenjy or Ambatolampy known ). Continuation on the RN 7 where countryside environment will reveal lands of latérite, Catholic and Protestant churches, typical villages “Imerina “, local markets. Once in Antsirabe, installation at the hotel. Then exit to Tritriva Lake located at fifteen kilometers,  west Antsirabe. This lake with a shape as Madagascar, has its own legend: two lovers who could not get married, ended their day hand in hand by drowning. Back to your hotel Accommodation La Chambre du Voyageur. (Step 170 kms, 4 to 5 hours )

Early morning depart south  direction. Rural walk closed Manandona, located 22 kilometers from Antsirabe closed to the RN7, through some middle mountain, Elevation village is around 1450 meters enjoying an adapted climate for rice culture, many vegetables and some other food crops (taro, cassava, , potato, sweet potatoes etc.) You will walk from a village to another village, total rural immersion, meet farmers with their families, visit traditional Merina small houses; opportunity to participate to rural activities (vegetable growing, rice transplanting, cow milking, etc.); you will even see the silkworms production by using traditional tools ( like caterpillars, silk weaving and spinning ). End of the walk, Picnic before joining your driver. Southern road continuation . After the Ankaratra mountains, will appear rice terraces inherited from Indonesia. Stop in Ambositra capital for craft; a street  there, is dedicated for wood carvers shops well know in marquetry. The Hotel ‘Artisan ‘ provide local Malagasy dish, ”Romazava”, cooked with meat and brèdes. The rest of the day, in the heart of the Betsileo country ,will take you to Ranomafana national park . Installation at the hotel ”Ny Tamana” . (260 kms stage, 8 to 9 hours).

Park of Ranomafana covers 41,601 hectares of forest. In 2007, it has been ranked World Natural Heritage as  of the Atsinanana (”The East”) . It contains rich endemic biodiversity, including  rare lemur species and a genetic reservoir of rare and  some endemic plants. It is traversed by several rivers, tributaries Namorona river ; guided visit from two to four hours. (guide can adapt visit timing according to your fitness ). Early afternoon,  visit of typical village “Tanala”  located 15 kms south of the park. The village has 53 homes. You could visit a royal palace ( small one ) , a home and the school. Exchanges, meetings farmers;  you will hear songs and see traditional dances. Continuation for Sahambavy ( tea plantations ) end of the afternoon, Installation to and hotel beside a lake ”Lac Hotel” (Step 60 kms – 1h30)

Transfer to Fianarantsoa. City tour; cross vineyards till Ambalavao. If the day is on Thursday, you can assist to one of the largest Zebus : Twice a week, thousands of heads are sent there. The capital of zebu is known also for its Antaimoro Paper factory and silk shop. Guided visit of Anja Village Reserve (Catta Lemurs). Exit of Ambalavao, you leave the national , to reach a track that will lead Tsaranoro Valley  on the edge of Andringitra massif. Installation in a Lodge located near huge cliffs Camp Catta. ( Stage of 130 kms, 3h30 )

Day 6

Guided tour in Tsaranoro  Valley. you can choose visits in thi s valley according to your fitness. “Chameleon circuit”  is  the more complete one ( 6 hours duration  maximum ); you will cross Tsaranoro Sacred Forest. In the morning, you should be lucky to observe lemurs Catta,  reheating the sun. After climb, you will turn to go cross the stream that comes from the top. Short rest for refreshing and  climb untill the top of Langera that we call “The Chameleon”. A last steep slope, you should  be take care, reaching the edge you will enjoy the scenery. At th end,  you go down towards Morarano the village,a nd come back to your Lodge.

The road is a trial in medium state before reaching the National Road 7 for around 5 hours: the landscape start to look like a desert. Cross the Horombe plateau. you will enter in Bara’s countries, ethnic group, known for zebu breeding. Arrival by the end of the afternoon in Massif of Isalo, wonderful site like a Western decor showing varieties of big landscapes, large canyons, rock formations carved by erosion. Accommodation Isalo Ranch. (Step 210 kms, 5 h)

The Isalo National Park, crossed by small rivers and tributaries, is repârtated on 81,540 hectares. This ruiniforme massif looks like a continental sandstone plateau, which dates from Jurassic. Highly eroded, only witnesses fragmented by the sandy valleys and canyons stayed. A real wonderful show!  There are many possible walking tours in Isalo. As example, you can share your day in 2 : a walk morning and another one in the afternoon;  even make a complete “boucle’” all day. Lunch can be organised  by a village association can in the middle of nature. We mainly include two circuits  :
– 1 . The natural pool ( La Piscine Naturelle ) : easy, advised in the morning; clear water where you can swim ( water is quite fresh from en May June to End August). From this, ranger will take you for 10 minutes walk until  a panoramic view point.
– 2 . The waterfall of the Nymphs  : advised start afternoon, easy access to the waterfall;  balade could be extended along rugged paths to join the blue and black pools, in the heart of intense vegetation.

Departure early morning from Ranohira; we have to be at Tolaria  before 10 am to catch the boat for Anakao. Boat Transfer. Installation at the hôtel closed to the beach. Accommodation Longo Vezo ( 215 kms / 5h )

Relaxing  stay at the hotel in Anakao which offers serveral types of activities like : a Vezo pirogue trip along the reef up to the small island of Nosy Ve (we can admire the  Phaethon), diving, fishing, snorkelling or kite surfing.

Sandy good track  to join Ambola via  Beheloka along the coast. Before arrival at Ambola , visit of the national park of Tsimanampetsotsa . The visit of the lake will take 03 hours, the first high point is the lake side enjoying the pink flamingo colony. The second high site is the  blind endemic fish cave’s to join by a short walk within the dry forest (numerous baobab). The third high point is the panoramic view point of the lake. Back to Ambola. and drive to Itampolo. Night hotel Villa Milahehe Mitongoa ( Step of 140 kms – 6 hours )

Trail to reach Lavanono ( around 6 /7 hours driving ) We will see many Mahafaly Tombs,  We enter in Androy Country. We cross the lake Linta, then we will have 15 difficult kms of rocky track surrounded with cactus. Arrival in the middle of the afternoon at Lavanono : Set in Lavanono Lodge : Very clean Ecolodge with botanic garden; bungalows have been built with local wood from Androy area. Nice and panoramic view on the ocean. ( Step of 215 kms , 7 hours )

Departure in the morning to reach Cape Sainte Marie. Visit the site. Lunch is available on site. Return to the hotel after the visit. (Stage: 40 kms – 1:30)

Continuation on an off road to Tsihombe, then Ambovombe from where the asphalted road will reappear as well as the cell net work.( after around 03 hours 30 munites drive).Possibility of having lunch in a local restaurant. After 02 hours of drive arrival at Berenty. ( Step 215 Kms – around 7h). Gite de Berenty

In the morning visit of the private reserve of Berenty. A large family of ring tailed lemurs and Sifaka live on liberty around the Lodge and could be spotted easily. One hour walk on the shadows of the gallery’s forest of Berenty and discovering birds, chameleons and the strange dry spiny forest. Visit of the sisal treatment and the Androy’s ethnic museum to find out the daily life style of this ethnic and their customs and tradition. In the afternoon continuation  to Fort Dauphin. (Step: 114 Kms – 03h30). Talinjoo Hotel and Spa

Leave the hotel at 7h30. Very nice excursion to Lokaro Bay and Evatra Village. You have 2 kilometers by car to join the Lake Lanirano where a motor boat will assure the transfer to Evatra (fishermen village): Balade of one hour around , rivers, lakes and Mangroves. For the most courageous, you could extend the balade by 3 / 4 hours walking  more : you will cross beach where we can swim, creeks, small valleys with beautiful view points. Lunch taken at Evatra, according weather, ballade around the dunes. Around 4 pm, you come back to Fort Dauphin.

Visit Nahampoana Reserve which located seven kilometers from Fort Dauphin. Half day excursion, discovering the medicinal plants, within the green forest, some lemurs ( six species ), reptiles,  chameleons, birds … continue with a relax and quite full ballade by a pirogue on the mangroves. Back to the hotel after the visit.
